In several short vignettes that appear throughout the production, Bert discovers a blue Muppet man who makes tuba noises through his mouth; six black youngsters perform a tap dance with no music other than their own clapping and tapping; several pairs of hands make rhythmic noises with tin cans, balls, hats, and paper bags; three children use pots, lids, barrels, washboard, and tambourine as percussion instruments. An animated sequence follows a pinball on its journey through the pinball machine. Oscar teaches the "Groucheteers" to make music with tin cans. A Muppet bear and three humans make music with glass bottles partly filled with water. Six young black girls perform a hand-clapping, foot-stomping chant. When Elmo and Luke finally convince Telly he can make music without his tuba, he sees the two fellows who took it. He retrieves the tuba, but instead of blowing into it, he taps on it with his fingers. This high quality production features top-notch acting, guest stars, ethnic diversity, background music, and excellent camera work, story line, and editing. |
